Name the decision the field will support
A richer record is not automatically a better record. List the missing fields and the decisions they would change: company fit, account ownership, or a suitable next step. Separate necessary fields from information that is merely interesting.
Check coverage on your actual market
Use a permitted, representative sample of the companies and roles you serve. Compare coverage, freshness, incorrect matches, and duplicates against the information you already have. Avoid assuming a global database description guarantees coverage for your segment.
Protect the source of truth
Decide which fields an enrichment process can add, which it can update, and which require review. Do not overwrite verified customer information with an uncertain match. Record the source and date of a data update.
Separate data from permission to contact
Finding a contact record does not by itself establish permission or suitability for outreach. Before using enriched records, verify the applicable requirements and your organization’s contact policies. Start with a reviewed research queue rather than automatically launching messages.
Buy data to improve a defined B2B decision, not to maximize the number of populated fields.
