Set the boundary around extraction
Moving fields from a document into a draft record can be a useful pilot. Approving a payment, deciding legal eligibility, or accepting a medical conclusion is a different task and needs appropriate professional control.
Test the difficult documents
Include missing fields, changed layouts, unusual number formats, duplicate files, and low-quality scans. A single clean example will not reveal the work required to resolve exceptions.
Verify before writing to the destination
Show the extracted value beside its source location where possible. Keep uncertain fields in a review queue. Use a stable document identifier so a retry does not create a second entry.
Measure the complete workload
Count time spent preparing files, checking fields, repairing errors, and maintaining mappings. Gross extraction speed can be misleading if verification takes longer than the old process.
A faster draft is useful only when the reviewed record is correct.
