- Who this is for
- Teams considering a new presentation subscription for proposals or training.
- What you will leave with
- A candidate shortlist and an evidence sheet for one real production gap.
- Scope of this guide
- Documentation-based product descriptions and an editorial pilot plan. No hands-on benchmark or client result is claimed. Use approved source material and check the capabilities of your current plan.

Define the gap before selecting a product
Decide whether the bottleneck is writing a story, arranging content, applying a brand, collaborating, or handing off an editable file. Record how the current PowerPoint, Google Slides, or other template performs that task. If the baseline already delivers an approved deck at acceptable effort, switching tools needs a specific reason rather than a general claim that AI is faster.
Distinguish authoring style and delivery
Gamma documents creation from prompts, text, and imports; Beautiful.ai emphasizes assisted presentation layout and brand configuration. Those descriptions provide starting hypotheses, not comparative results. Check each candidate on your own brief and the exact export your recipients need.
| Route | Potential reason to investigate | Decisive check |
|---|---|---|
| Existing slide tool and template | Familiar editing and delivery | Does a better outline solve the gap? |
| Beautiful.ai | Assisted layout and reusable brand settings | Can the required export be edited correctly? |
| Gamma | Drafting and organizing material for presentation | Does the final format preserve content and access? |
Use a shared source packet
Supply the same approved outline, source statements, audience, and target length. Include a long heading, a table, a diagram, a brand rule, and one deliberately missing fact. Record the instruction used in each tool. Permit correction in every route, but measure it. Different instructions or source quality can otherwise explain the result more than the choice of software.
Score substance before polish
Have a content owner check whether the deck preserves the approved claims and makes the intended decision understandable. Count invented statements, missing exclusions, unsupported figures, and confusing next steps. Review visual clarity afterward. A visually attractive deck should still fail the pilot if it invents a promise or hides an important qualification.
Test revisions and reuse
Change an input after the first review: an offer boundary, a diagram label, or a data point. Check whether the author can update the relevant slides and whether the rest of the deck remains coherent. Give the file to a second teammate. Record rebuilding time, unfamiliar controls, and dependencies on a particular editor or account.
Verify export and sharing separately
Gamma’s documentation describes several export routes and sharing controls. Beautiful.ai distinguishes editable exports from static-image delivery and documents plan requirements. Test fonts, editability, transitions, links, and permissions rather than equating the word “export” with an identical result. A public web deck, restricted link, static PDF, and editable file have different acceptance criteria.
Compare the plan needed for the workflow
Check current billing terms, workspace seats, draft or AI limits, branding, and export access in the account you will use. Include a recipient who must edit but is not normally in your authoring workspace. Use a realistic monthly volume and count review and export repair labor. Do not compare a free preview in one product with a paid delivery configuration in another.
Keep a written decision with limits
Record which route passed, which cases failed, and the audience and format tested. Retain the baseline as a fallback and repeat with another ordinary deck before changing the entire team’s process. This guide supplies an evaluation method; it does not claim that these tools have identical capabilities or that we have run a performance benchmark.
Compare usable, approved artifacts under the same conditions. A product category is not a substitute for testing your delivery requirement.
